Dear Flutist,
Welcome to the website of the newly formed Eastern Iowa Flute Association!
On September 18, 2005 the Eastern Iowa Flute Association, EIFA, met for the first time at the First Presbyterian Church in Ely, Iowa. This gathering of friends included solo performances by Tamara Thweatt, Nicole Esposito, Erika Leake, Sonja Giles, and Kara DeRaad Santos, as well as the EIFA flute choir directed by Amy Metcalf. It was a wonderful afternoon, and many great ideas were brought forth to get this organization off the ground.
It is a wonderful time to be a flutist in Eastern Iowa; in this small geographical area there is an astonishing amount of talent, knowledge, and enthusiasm amongst student, amateur and professional members of our flute community. EIFA will allow us to stay better connected and to unify our resources. We can work together to stay informed about flute happenings in the region, and as we progress we will work hard to provide even more exciting opportunities to Eastern Iowa flutists.
Whether it be a major recital or a small church performance, we would like to hear from you! If you are doing any flute related activity and would like EIFA to know about it, please contact us, and we will put it on the calendar of events. Also, if you were not able to attend the first EIFA gathering, and would like to become a member, or you know someone else who may like to become a member, it is not too late! Please clink on the membership link and you will find a form that you can print out and mail in with your dues.
This website, as it is now, is designed to suit our basic needs. As our organization expands, it will no doubt grow as well. As President of EIFA, I look forward to hearing from you with any comments, suggestions, or any exciting news that you may have. We are off to an incredible start and I know the possibilities are unlimited if we continue on the path that we have set off on. On behalf of the board of EIFA, I would like to thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Nicole Esposito
